“Mathematician. Strong but a great Math educator and Coach.“ Emily Collins is a Secondary Mathematics Supervisor in Duval County, FL., and has over 20 years experience in 6 -12 Mathematics. She gets to work with some really cool colleagues, school administrators, teachers and students, to develop and innovate curriculum and instruction to provide the best educational experiences for students. Her involvement with State curriculum writing and professional training have resulted in her District’s improved teacher practitioners and a 32% decrease of students taking math developmental courses. After earning a Masters of Education from the University of Central Florida, her passion was to develop teens and make mathematics accessible, engaging, and connected to the World around them, helping them to realize how they fit as future leaders and impactful citizens. Leadership provides her an opportunity to influence and help strengthen systems and provide math structures necessary to support ALL learners. Her belief is that learning matters for every child. Outside of academia, she keeps busy with her family, who loves sports, music, and anime.
